Oh wow ... I'm partially responsible for somebody choosing Vista? Please don't tell my Mac-owning friends!

Both of the machines I have in the office running Vista are 64-bit, but are running the 32-bit version. That's probably a smart move.

I suspect that much of the complaining about Vista may start to come to an end once SP1 is released in the next few weeks.

I also wonder if part of the complaining about Vista is somewhat related to the fact that MS over-promised on what they were going to include with Longhorn, and then had to really scale back in order to even release *anything* so many years after the release of XP. In essence, it appears that Vista is just XP with new (albeit heavier) UI "clothing." But ... I suspect there is more than meets the eye ... I just haven't had a chance to look much deeper yet.

While I agree with many that Microsoft has made mistakes with Vista -- both technical and business mistakes -- part of me thinks some of the Vista bashing has been over exaggerated (for reasons too numerous to list here). Thanks in part to your article I'm going to order an OEM copy of Vista Home Premium when I build my a box next week. Of course, I'm getting the 32-bit version...still somewhat hesitant to go 64-bit until I am sure the kinks are worked out! ;-)
