“AMERICA has told Britain that it can ‘kidnap’ British citizens if they are wanted for crimes in the United States.” Methinks this sets a dangerous precedent. I’m sure if, say, Iran decided that some random US citizen was guilty of some crime, and even as much as tried to kidnap them to bring them to Iran for trial, we’d nuke Tehran to kingdom come faster than you can imagine.
For the last six years or so I’ve been of the opinion that the state inserting its nose into marriage is inherently useless. As far as I’m concerned, it’s none of its business (literally). I am a Christian of the Lutheran persuasion (the Evangelical Catholic flavor of Lutheran, to be precise). My marriage to my wife is between the two of us and God, as far as I’m concerned. Why I needed the permission of the State of Tennessee to marry is quite frankly mystifying. At least somebody else thinks (more or less) the same way I do …
