Generally I only bring up politics on here when I have to opportunity to lampoon one of the many witless denizens of government buildings across the nation. Since I’ve of a rather strong libertarian orientation, I have plenty of opportunities to do this … I include most any elected official in that category. This time I’m not going to do that. I’m actually excited about the upcoming election … because I might actually have an opportunity I’ve not had before in the brief time that I’ve been of voting age … I might be able to vote for a candidate I actually like, rather than trying to decide whether to vote for whichever of the two major candidates I dislike the least, or just toss my vote in with the Libertarian candidate. Come primary time, I’m casting my vote in the Republican primary for Texas rep Ron Paul, who I happen to agree with on pretty much every issue that he’s spoken on or written about. Heck, I even bought a Ron Paul 2008 bumper sticker which will be plastered on my car within a few short days … something I sure wouldn’t have considered doing for any major party candidate since I was in high school.

Local Political Candidates
I personally endorse the following local political candidates, and encourage you to support them with your vote:
- Hamilton County School Board District 1 - Rhonda Thurman (D, Unopposed)
- Hamilton County School Board District 2 - Joe Dumas (R, Running against incumbent Chip Baker)
- Hamilton County School Board District 4 - Gregg Juster (R, Running against incumbent Debra Matthews)
- US House (Tennessee) District 3 - Teresa Sheppard (R, Running against incumbent Zack Wamp)
What Is This Mess?
You've stumbled upon my mixed bag of ramblings about economics, politics, news, human stupidity, programming, and geeky stuff in general ... all from the perspective of somebody who scored as a 100% libertarian on the Nolan Chart.
I'm a Chattanooga resident, Web developer, Mac user, and amateur photographer who really likes taking pictures at night. I'm a Krystal Lover! I (used to) drink too much Coke, and own a General Electric refrigerator from the late forties. I'm currently servinc as the Chair of the Hamilton County Libertarian Party, President of ChattaMac (our local Mac Users Group), and I organize a PHP Developer's Group locally.
To find out more about the refrigerator (or to chat about anything you read on here), email me at j.clifton@four-eight-four.org.
