Marion Memorial Bridge

Here is another photo of the Marion Memorial Bridge taken today. I’ll have to go back out when the sun is shining and get better photographs. This is a really lovely bridge, and I am quite disappointed that it will be replaced, which most certainly means that it will be demolished, given its remote location. There’s not really any chance (that I can see) of it being turned into a pedestrian bridge, like the Walnut Street Bridge here in Chattanooga.

Another Chattanooga Sunset

Here’s another sunset photo; this time, the foreground is the Tennessee Aquarium.

Yes, I know I’ve not been posting as regularly recently; I’m going to fix that. I may start publishing a “photograph of the day” or something similar …

Baptism Day (All Saints Sunday)

Well, ladies and gentlemen … thisyer picture is a prime example of what happens when one tries to use the ISO 800 mode on their shiny new camera and avoid using the flash indoors. Bad idea. I managed to de-noise this one pretty well, but the color is still off.

In any case, Autumn was baptized on All Saints Sunday (Nov. 5, 2006). All Saints Sunday is my “Lutheran Birthday” … the first service I attended at a Lutheran church was Nov. 4, 2001. It also happens to be right around my birthday. Pretty cool!

Pictured are Rachel, her father, and Autumn.

A Few Photos …

I spent quite a bit of time today taking photos. Most of what I took was rubbish, but these aren’t too bad.

Yes, she’s asleep. During the day at that … wonder of wonders!

Detail of the Chicamauga dam (the one with the bridge over it on Hwy. 153, for those of you who have been to Chattanooga).

Some fellows getting ready to fish. The camera picked up the Tennessee orange on the cap pretty well. Why doesn’t anybody wear UNC stuff up here?

This is the Marion Memorial Bridge in Marion County, close to the unincorporated community of Guild. It crosses over part of Nickajack Lake. It was built in 1929, and is slated to be replaced at some point. More information about the bridge is available at the Historic Bridges of the US web site at bridgehunter.com.

D’oh!

It’s not a good idea to carry around SD Cards in your pocket. At least I learned this lesson with the nearly-useless 16MB card they sent with my new camera.
