Black and White Photos — Round Two

I seem to be hooked on this black and white processing thing. Here are a few more photos, some going back all the way to the early part of 2004, when I first had my digital camera. I’ll put some captions on them sooner or later …

More Photos — Black and White This Time

It’s 2:30 in the morning, and what am I doing? Yes, that’s right, I’m posting some edited photos.

I went to sleep before midnight, and thanks to a way-messed-up sleep schedule this past week, I’m now wide awake again. So, I decided to do what any sane person does when they can’t sleep at this hour … edit photos. I spent some time playing with some of my favorite photos, turning them into black & white images.

When I first started playing with photography, way back in high school, I experimented with b&w. I’ve always had a soft spot for b&w photos. So, I took a few of my favorite images and black-and-white-ified them. I’ve posted some or all of these before, but I think you’ll enjoy them in this format as well.

How did I do it? Check out this brief tutorial if you’re interested in learning the technique.

Here is the gallery … oh, and I learned how to get image captions working. Now I just have to go back and set them up for my other galleries …

Blue Ridge Parkway/Mt. Mitchell Photos

Alrighty folks … a new installment, after a long period of silence.

My brother came to town for a few days this week. While he was here, we went up to Mt. Mitchell. Here are some of the photos I took.

1-5 are from some overlook around the Craggy Dome area. I wasn’t bright enough to remember which one, though. 7-27 are from Mt. Mitchell. The rest are from on top of Craggy Dome.

Unfortunately, my camera did not do a good job of capturing the color of the sunset in the last one. I’ve also noticed that the pictures are starting to get a little grainy. Perhaps this will be a good excuse for me to get a nicer camera … hmmm … Canon Digital Rebel. Yeah, that’s it.
